HOME SECRETARY RANA URGES STRENGTHENED BORDER SECURITY
Kathmandu, 20 March: : Home Secretary Sushil Jung Rana has stressed the need of strengthening the border security force citing the transition in the country, RSS repors from Bharatpur.
Inaugurating the Armed Police Force (APF)'s border security office at Aanptari, Bharatpur-2 here on Tuesday, he said maintaining border security during the transition is a challenging job as many unscrupulous elements would raise their heads taking advantage of the situation.
The security forces should be extra vigilant at such times and work with dedication to maintain border security and check cross-border crimes, he said.
On the occasion, Home Secretary Rana inaugurated four different blocks constructed at a total cost of Rs 15,707,725.
The APF constructed the blocks on public land despite protests by the locals.
APF Chief, Inspector General Shailendra Kumar Shrestha instructed the APF personnel to be dedicated in their duty by following the directives of the government in letter and spirit.

SUSHIL KOIRALA VOWS TO PUSHOPEACE
Kathmandu, 20 March: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has said his party alone will take the peace process initiated by the party leader the late Girija Prasad Koirala to conclusion, RSS reports from Birgunj.
Speaking in a tea reception organised by the NC Birgunj Town Committee on Tuesday morning to commemorate leader GPK's second death anniversary, party President Koirala claimed that the peace process would be concluded and new constitution issued under the Nepali Congress' leadership.
He said barring some differences in the party, the NC has always stood for unity and urged the party cadres to caution the central leadership if it becomes 'wayward'. RSS

QUAKE HITS JAJARKOT
Kathmandu, 20 March: An earthquake with the magnitude of 4.7 in Richter scale was felt in Jajarkot district, RSS reports.
The quake was centered near Karkigaon of Jajarkot.
According to the National Seismological Measurement Center, Lainchaur, the quake occurred at 2:21 am early this [Tuesday] morning.
