MILITANT PM BHATTARAI ATTEMPTS TO CREATE CONFUSION
Kathmandu, 4 March: The Big Three leaders meet for the second
time in two days Sunday to resolve differences on integration of 6,500 former Maoist combatants in Nepal Army (NA) after an inconclusive meet Saturday
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has added confusion to the meeting saying demand for rank of brigadier general in a proposed directorate
under NA wasn’t the party’s bottom-line-- a party position of UCPN (Maoist) of which he’s second vice-chairman.
Bhattarai said this to a select group of journalists Saturday night.
Two opposition parties NC and UML called the demand new,
rejected it saying major was the highest rank for a former PLA
fighter joining the state army.
Differences between the three major players comes amid threat of a bloodshed in which thousands would be killed if a constitution isn’t promulgated by 28 May.
“There’ll be a big unimaginable disaster. I say this responsibly. This
present arrived with the sacrifice of 12,to 12 thousand people. If this isn’t institutionalized, then more tan 50, 000 be killed,’ Bhattarai said.
The premier has been adoptng a militant tone trying to drag former Kng Gyanendra for failure of hs government to deliver a peace, constitution while maintaining peace and progress.
He charged the former king for conspiring against government behind
four walls.
