MINISTERLOKENDRA BISTA CASE;INQUIRY NEEDED TO PUT RECORD STRAIGHT

MINISTER LOKENDRA BISTA CASE
INQUIRY NEEDED TO PUT RECORD STRAIGHT
Kathmandu, 7 March: Tourism Minister Lokendra Bista Tuesday’s ruined Nepal’s international image and cased himself serious personal embarrassment by attempting to fly to Germany to attend a travel mart in Berlin without a valid visa stamped n his diplomatic passport.
Immigration officials at Abu Dhabi airport first detained the minister and later lodged him and his wife, Ganga, at a transit hotel at the hotel even after the minister revealed his identity of immigration officials at the airport where two Nepalis were earlier sent back home for travelling on forged lawmakers who sold the travel documents.
Bista is expected to resume his flight to the German capital Wednesday after spending two nights at Abu Dhabi airport.
Attempts are now been made to blame officials at Bista’s ministry and the Tribubvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu for not meticulously checking the minister’s passport .before boarding the flight.
Wife Ganga, was travelling on an ordinary passport.
The foreign ministry issued a note asking the German embassy in Kathmandu to issue Bista a visa; the minister never applied for a visa against the official note and travelled against the document.
Germany requires visas from Nepali nationals to enter the country now with the bad international image of the country and its citizens for massive involvement in drugs smuggling particularly..
But in the early 1970’s Nepalis were allowed to enter Germany without visas and stay there for three months
Could he case of embarrassment to Nepal and the minister be a case of onlygnorance?
An inquiry is needed to put records straight.
