NE, UML MEET TO DEVELOP COMMON STANCE ON FRESH MAPOISTREQUEST FOR SOFTER APPROACH ON INTEGRATION FOR MAOISTS

NC, UML MEET FOR COMMON STANCE ON FRESH MAOIST DEMAND

Kathmandu, 28 March: Opposition parties NC and UML held discussions Wednesday to develop a common approach to fresh Maoist request for leniency in integration of 9,900 plus Maoist former combatants in Nepal Army (NA).
Maoists held a meeting with UML Wednesday following discussions with NC Tuesday night
NC and UML leaders said a 7-point agreement was the foundation for integration on which basis a secretariat of a special committee headed ex-officio by the premier asked for the preparation procedures and modality for integration to complete a delayed peace.
“It’s a basis for understanding.” a NC leader said.
The secretariat couldn’t prepare the modality by its five-day mandate Tuesday following Maoist demands for amendment and relaxation on entry conditions in NC.
Special committee couldn’t meet Tuesday without the secretariat suggestions.
