PM BHATTARAI SAYS HIS PARTY’S WON’T SPLIT
DESPITE INTERNAL DISSATISFACTION
Kathmandu, 29 March: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai is
hopeful the country’s largest party, which is communist and
leads a government with help of a front of regional parties
pushing flatlands along the 1,700km Nepal-India border won’t
split.
“The party won’t split. We are talking.” The premier told listeners over state-owned Radio Nepal Wednesday hours after a dissatisfied
faction boycotted an establishment sponsored central committee that only meet to discuss unity and joint programmes.
‘We are talking,” Bhattarai said adding the open protests of
rebels on nation-wide campaign for people’s mobilization against the party and government was ‘unnatural”.
He added: “We have kept doors open. That’s why the meeting [of central committee] was unofficial.
Debendra Paudel, Chief political aide of the government chief
said: ” The process [of rebels]was wrong There should have
been internal discussions.”
Paudel added Bhattarai won’t resign as demanded by rebels.
“There’s no resign to resign without an alternative,’ he added.
Majority of the 149 central committee members attended the meeting called by the establishment faction demonstrating Prachanda and
Bhattarai have a majority in the body.

24KG BROWN SUGAR ARRESTED;INDIAN ARRESTED
Kathmandu, 29 March: Police seized 24kg brown sugar worth millions of rupees on the open market from an Indian registered vehicle on a highway in Rupendhaehi
Wednesday and arrested an Indian national, drugs enforcement
officials said.
Indian national Jashmir Singh was arrested with and five other Nepali traffickers.

FOUR NEW CDOs
Kathmandu, 29 March: Four deputy secretaries have been
appointed CDOs to fill vacancies.
Home ministry appointed Jitendra Bhandati Bhaktapur CDO.
Bhawani Parajuli, Sitaram Karki and Baburam Bhandari have been districts chiefs in Solokhumbi Sankhuwasabha and Lamgunj respectively.
