PM BHATTARAI WARNS MORE THAN 50,000 WILL BE KILLED WITHOUT PEACE AND CONSTITUTION
Kathmandu, 3 March: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai threatened and warned Saturday thousands would be killed in a bloody unimaginable situation if peace and constitution weren’t delivered by 28 May.
He issued the warning while attending a function Saturday in Lalitpur to attend a function marking the first death anniversary of Krskha rasad Bhattarai in he presence of other leaders.
”The turnoff events will be unpredictable. People numbering more than 50,000 will be killed,” Bhattarai told the meeting, according to state Radio Nepal which played his taped threat in an evening news bulletin.
Bhattarai reminded 15,000 were killed during the people’s war before Maoists joined the mainstream for years ago in 2008.

PM SAYS NO ALTERNATIVE TO PEACE, CONSTITUTION
Kathmandu, 3 March:: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said there is no alternative to taking the peace and the constitution writing to logical conclusion, RSS reports from Lalitpur.
Speaking in a condolence meeting commemorating the first death anniversary of the Nepali Congress founder leader Krishna Prasad Bhattarai at Badegaon, Thaiba here on Saturday, the prime minister underlined the need for ending the misunderstanding among the political parties for completing the peace and constitution.
He said the country would be caught in a grave conflict if the peace and the constitution writing were not taken to conclusion within May 28, adding that the major political parties were holding constructive discussions since recently for completing these two processes.
"One side becoming flexible in regard to the peace and constitution while the other side hardening its stance would not produce results; both sides should seek practical and justified agreement through give and take," Prime Minister Bhattarai stressed.
He said true tributes to the late Bhattarai would be for all sides to embrace the ideal persona of the late leader.
Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Subas Nembang observed that genuine tributes to the late leader Bhattarai would be to materialise the achievements of the people's movements and struggles so far by taking the peace process to conclusion.
He reiterated that there is no alternative to the political parties uniting for taking the peace and constitution to logical conclusion.
Nepali Congress party president Sushil Koirala underlined the need of removing the deficit of trust among the political parties at the present juncture and the parties becoming committed to taking the country ahead towards peace, and law and order.
He said there was no alternative to completing the peace and constitution writing processes as these two topics were the main agenda, adding that both these processes would be concluded within a week if the UCPN-Maoist moved ahead with commitment.
Nepali Congress leader Pradip Giri, former minister Sharat Singh Bhandari, journalist Yubaraj Ghimire, among other speakers called on the political leaders to emulate the late Bhattarai's ideals and moral dignity.
A large number of people, including leaders of different political parties, eminent persons, high-ranking government officials and well-wishers of the late Bhattarai were present in the programme.

MAOIST LEADER BAIDHYA ADVOCATES CONTNUED STRUGGLE
Kathmandu, 3 March: Senior Vice-chairman of the Unified CPN-Maoist Mohan Baidhya said the political struggle should be continued as public rights were yet to be ensured, RS reports.

Speaking at a programme to honor the families of the martyrs and the disappeared here on Saturday, he said it would be the real honour to the martyrs if the political parties guaranteed the rights of all classes of people in the new constitution.

Vice-chairman Baiddya said the revolutionary forces should be united to fulfill the dream of the martyrs and the disappeared peaople, adding the UCPN-Maoist was committed for the national freedom.

During the programme, Standing Committee member of the party Netra Bikram Chand said it was wrong to say that the UCPN-Maoist has been an obstacle in the peace and constitution writing processes.

On the occasion, around 100 families of the martyrs and people said to be disappeared were honored.
