PM ISSUES 7-POINT DIRECTIVE
Kathmandu, 19 March: Paying a heavy price for politicizing the civil service
divided mainly into supporters of three parties through unions of government employees, Prime Minister issued a 7-point directive Sunday to senior government
employees at a collective meeting no to cow down under pressure of ministers or
unions.
The meeting was held after a minister misbehaved with a firm woman secretary and senor government officials were pressurized by lower officials through unions loyal to
parties for transfers to ‘lucrative offices and ministries’.
IN what was a routine decision, the government chief asked officials to report pressures
to the chief secretary or him.

LAWYERS ASK FOR PEACE AND CONSTITUTION
Kathmandu, 19 March: A three-day national conference
of lawyers that concluded Sunday in the capital urged asked completion of peaceand constitution.
“Political and constitutional crises will be created,’ the lawyers said without
completion of the twin processes of peace and constitution drafting.
Lawyers said they will press for an independent judiciary amid attempts to
promulgate a constitution in a 15-point declaration.
