SACKED MINISTER ACCUSES PM FOR ATTEMPTING TO PEACE FOUR LEADERS OF MADESHBADI FRONT

Kathmandu, 27 March: The UCPN-Maoist and the Nepali Congress held on Tuesday discussion on the issues relating to the peace process and constitution

At the meeting held at UCPN-Maoist Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence, Lazimpat, the leaders discussed ways to forwarding the peace process and taking strides by resolving the disputes on contentious issues in the constitution-making, said Santosh Poudel, Press Coordinator of Dahal.

The meeting dwelt on the issue of integration of the Maoist ex-combatants in a dignified manner and agreed to thrash out the issue tomorrow by holding a meeting of the top leaders.

The Nepali Congress has stressed its stance to undertake integration in line with the seven-point deal signed earlier.

On the occasion, UCPN-Maoist Chairperson Dahal underlined the need to exercise flexibility from all sides to conclude the peace process.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai pledged that he would not leave any stone unturned to complete the peace process, calling for the Nepali Congress to lend positive support to that end.

The meeting was attended by Chairperson Dahal, Vice-chairperson and Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai and standing committee member Krishna Bahadur Mahara from the UCPN-Maoist while the NC was represented by its Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel, General Secretary Krishna Sitaula and leader Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat.

Kathmandu, 27 March: Sacked Agriculture Minister Nandan Kumar Dutta Tuesday accused Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai for never giving
him an opportunity to explain his point of view Monday before his dismissal Monday night.
“I would have resigned,” Dutta told Reporters’ Club.
“I came to know of my dismissal in the morning. But I was
never given an opportunity to explain my views,” his views.
“My dismissal is unjust and illegal,” he said.
‘The prime minister wanted to keep four leaders of the Madesbadi front happy,” he charged,

SC JUSTICES STRESS INDEPENDENT JUDICIARY UPDATE
Kathmandu, 27 March: Top leaders of major political parties have held discussions with Chief Justice (CJ) and justices of the Supreme Court (SC) regarding the form and structure of judiciary in the new constitution, rss REPORTS.

On the occasion, discussions were held regarding the Constitutional Court, term of the CJ, reappointment and appointment provision of the justices.

During the discussions, the justices urged the top leaders to pay attention to the independence of judiciary.

Similarly, justices have opined to not put clause for forming constitutional court in the new constitution.

Top leaders of the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and Madhesi Morcha, and members of dispute resolution subcommittee under the Constitutional Committee (CC) were present in the meeting.


After the meeting, Nepali Congress Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel said, "Important suggestions and logics have been raised. We have taken the suggestions positively."


Leaders have said that the suggestions offered by the justices will be discussed at the meeting of the dispute resolution subcommittee, leaders said.



Laxman Lal Karna of Sadbhavana Party said that the justices have offered suggestions in written form urging the political parties to pay attention to the independence of judiciary. RSS
