SUPREME COURT BENCH CLOSES DOOR FOR CA EXTENSION AFTER 27 MAY
Kathmandu, 28 March: The door to further extension of the
constituent assembly (CA) was closed Wednesday after a
decision of a bench of the supreme court
Justice Kamal Naraian Das ruled the decision of the Office of the Registrat not to register requests of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai
and Speaker Subash Nemwang for a review of a November 2011 ruling of the apex court was correct.
The supreme court in November ruled the current tenure of the
CA that ends 27 May will be the last and referendum and fresh elections were options after the end of May.
The court ruled Wednesday no further requests for lreview of the November 2011 decision will be entertained.
