THIRD FACTION EMERGING IN NC

THIRD FACTION EMERGING IN NC

Kathmandu, 20 March: : Tired with the ongoing conflict of interest between the establishment and Sher Bahadur Deuba factions, some leaders of Nepali Congress have initiated process to form a third faction within the party, Reportersnepal.com reports.

Leading proponents of this yet-to-come faction, Govind Raj Joshi and Kul Bahadur Gurung organized a gathering of similar minded NC leaders and lawmakers in the capital on Monday to discuss the formation of faction yet further.

The gathering held at NC Central Committee member Ambika Basnet, has concluded to figure out leaders unsatisfied with their respective factions and persuade them to join their faction which they claimed will be ‘progressive in essence’ and will restore the party to its ‘original glory’.

Sources near this faction claimed that another meeting would be held again after appraising possible new recruits from the Koirala and Deuba faction.

“ We have decided to share our thoughts with some leaders from both factions who sharing affinity with their factions but are intellectually marginalized and deprived of growth,” said a leader who had participated in the important meeting.

The leader further added, “We will start negotiations with these leaders very soon in the leadership of Govind Raj Joshi and Kul Bahadur Gurung.”

Apart from the decision to form their own faction, the four hour meeting also reached many conclusions and took a handful of decisions.

Firstly the meet accused the establishment of drifting away from the founding principles of Late B P Koirala in developing the organization. The source informed that they have decided to strictly follow BP’s principle in the days ahead for developing the party.

Secondly the meeting discussed party’s decision to dissolve the executive bodies of its sister organization, procedures adopted by President Sushil Koirala to form the acting committee of Nepal Student’s Union (NSU) and its possible impact, and the recent discussion on the formation of national consensus government.

After holding discussion on these issues, the yet-to-materialize faction meet concluded that the inability of the leadership to actively engage youths in party’s political activities has given rise to pessimism within the party youths.

The faction has decided to take the issue as one of its major agenda to launch salvo at both factions and initiate discussions for recruiting youth leaders into its faction.

Along with Joshi and Gurung the meet was attended by Binay Dhoj Chand, Sunil Bhandari, Shyamlal Shrestha, Man Bahadur Bishwokarma, Tarani Dutta Chatuat, Baldev Sharma Majgaya, Parbati Thapa, Harsha Lama, Bhutan Devi Khawas, Niraj Pun, Purushottam Basnet, among others informed the source.
