TU VICE-CHANCELLOR LOCKED UP UPDATE ON TU EMPLOYEE PROTESTS
Kathmandu, 5 March: Employees of Tribhuvan University (TU) early Monday locked up
Vice-chancellor Hira Bahadur Maharjan, Rector Guna Nidhi Neupane and Registrar Chandra Mani Poudel at the Centre for Education Development and Research office in Balkhu
They were freed in the evening by employees who have been pushing 11
demands including uniforms and perks.
The top officials gained their freedom after promises to consider demands Tuesday.

DISTRICT, APPELLATE COURT JDGES TO BE APPOINTED THROUGH OPEN
COMPETITION
Kathmandu, 5 March: A meeting of the judicial council agreed Monday to
appoint district and appellate court judges through open competition.
Law Minister for Law and Justice Brijesh Gupta, who is a councilmember said,” The judges will no longer be hand-picked.
The council reserved 48 percent seats for marginalized groups.
Legal amendments have to be enforced to implement new appointment
process.
