UPDATE SPECIAL SUB-COMMITTEE MEET BEGINS
Kathmandu, 30 March: A meeting of the sub-committee chaired by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai for integration of former Maoist fighters in state army began Saturday.
Procedures to be adopted for a second survey of voluntary retirement or integration of remaining 9,900 fighters in 15 cantonments and satellite camps and handover of Maoist weapons to government by end of 12 April will be discussed, Finance Minister and Maoist spokesman Barshaman Singh Pun said.
The committee will take up three agenda items.
A second survey is being taken as there are only6,500 openings for former fighters in Nepal Army.
