UPDATE DHULIKHEL MEET PUT OFF AFTER NC, UML RELUCTANCE

Kathmandu, 10 April: The much talked-about three-party meeting slated secretly to be held at a Resort in Dhulikhel has been dropped down following reluctance of the Nepali Congress and CPN UML leaders, ReportersNepal.com reports.

Sources in the know-how informed that the meeting was slated to garner consensus on outstanding issues of constitution drafting including issues related to federalism and forms of governance.

The source claimed that the meeting was put off form the time being following denial of the UML and NC leaders to hold discussions on issues related to constitution drafting unless the technical details of army integration were sorted out and the PLAs were handed down to the Nepal Army.

However, they have agreed to sit for talks at 1 this afternoon at the Peace Ministry.

NEW MINISTER YADAV SAYS PRO-PEOPLE CONSTITUTION BY 27 MAY
Kathmandu, 10 April: Newly appointed Minister for Information and Communications Raj Kishor Yadav has expressed his belief that pro-people constitution would be promulgated within May 27, RSS reports.
Speaking at a programme organised by Reporters' Club Nepal in honor of Minister Yadav, he claimed the task of army integration under the peace process would reach to conclusion this week.
The government is committed to discharge the role to accomplish the peace and constitution-drafting processes, Minister Yadav said, informing that the political parties are sitting for serious discussion today to settle disputes surfaced in the peace process.
Noting that the country is passing through a historical process of peace building and constitution writing, the Minister disclosed that Nepali politics is being shrewdly observed by national and international forces.
'I took the moment of being the part of the Council of Ministers as a challenge rather than an opportunity', Yadav said, adding he would translate the challenge into opportunity by handling his job well.
He also promised to do concrete works to address genuine demands of journalists and put efforts to put forward communication revolution in relation to economic revolution.
The minister further said he would accord top priority to improve the condition of government-owned institutions and pay special attention towards resolving the problem seen in mobile phone.
They would accept if anyone gives the best alternative of 'One Madhes One Province' while ushering the country into federal states, he added.
The country would not witness concrete peace without addressing the concrete agendas of Madhes, he claimed. RSS

At a press meet organized by Press Chautari, Ilam chapter here on Tuesday, Gyawali, however, said the Maoists’ commitment to the peace process and constitution writing is crucial for the success of the twin tasks.

The UML leader also asked the public to rest assured, saying there are now enough reasons to believe that the new constitution will be promulgated within the remaining 47 days.
