EVEN CEREMONIAL PRESIDENT WARNS HE WON’T SIGN A CONSTITUTION THAT DIVIDES COUNTRY
Kathmandu, 13 April: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has said he will not
sign the constitution if he gets the slightest hint of division of the country in the constitution while carrying out the state restructuring, RSS reports from Banepa .

Pointing out that it was the responsibility of the Head of State to issue the constitution, President Yadav said he would not sign such a statute if he got any hint that it would lead to the division in the country.

The President said this while inaugurating the Kalimata Temple at Kanpur VDC-1 in Timal area here today. The goddess temple was recently reconstructed.

On the occasion, Presiednt Yadav said history will not forgive us if we fail to accomplish peace and the new constitution in one and a half months.

Stating that the peace process has moved forward, he expressed the confidence that the new constitution would be promulgated in the stipulated time.

He said it is quite challenging to resolve the problems in a country like ours with its vast economic, social, cultural and ethnic diversity, adding that it is surprising we have not been able to tap this diversity despite of immense possibility of the resources at our disposal.

The President stressed the need of unity for protecting the nation, warning that hatred and ill-feelings towards others would not help build the country.

Noting that the temple has historical and archeological significance, President Yadav said the Timal area has immense potentiality to be developed into a tourist area with the development of transport.

The temple which is nearly 400 years old was first reconstructed in 1865 BS and it was in a pretty bad shape as it had not been repaired since then.

It was recently reconstructed at the initiative of the Mainali Samaj Sewa. The reconstruction works had begun some six years back with the support of different local government bodies. The temple has been reconstructed without spoiling its architectural design.

The temple was reconstructed at a cost of Rs. 6.9 million.

On the occasion, President Yadav also unveiled the stone inscription of the temple and performed worship there.

Also today, the president inspected the Barha Timal area. Speaking on the occasion, he said the initiative for writing the constitution has been undertaken under his coordination and opined that the agreements done by the political parties have started to be implemented in the recent days.
