DIFFERENCES PRSIST Kathmandu, 30 April: Big Three and Madeshbadi leaders couldn’t agree on a constitution, form of governance, national government and other issues at talks Monday. They failed to arrive at a consensus before Tuesday’s meeting of the constituent assembly (CA) which will vote on issues without consensus. The process is long and political uncertainty will increase. Only 27 days remain to promulgate a basic law. un. FAR-WEST STRIKE WITHDRAWN Kathmandu, 30 April: Indefinite Kanchanpur district strike called by different political parties and organizations demanding 'indivisible far-west' has been called off from today [Monday], RSS reports from Kanchapur. The strike was called to protest the UCPN (Maoist) proposal of 10 provinces on state-restructuring. The agitating sides have said that they would prepare agendas for further programmes by holding discussions with the indigenous and Tharu communities. Issuing a join press statement today, the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), CPN (ML) and other parties active in the district including civil society have said that the strike was postponed to prepare common agendas after organizing a round table conference with the stakeholders. Life in the district has returned to normalcy after the postponement of the strike. Nnnn
