Sources of the Armed Police Force deployed for the security of the Tila-based temporary camp of the Fifth Division said the ammos were found during the search after a local tip-off about the bomb. “When the bomb defusing team dug up in the vicinity over the suspicion of other bombs hidden there, it found ammunitions hidden inside a large tank,” informed Karna Bahadur Gharti, Assistant Sub-inspector of the Nuwa Gaun-based police post. A police team led by Gharti had reached the site after the locals tipped the police over possible bombs buried in their area. Interestingly, ammunitions were found just a kilometre away from the Fifth Division’s Jwar Smriti Brigade, which is taken over by the armed police force ever since combatants of the camp were resettled in Dahaban during the regrouping process about one month back. The armed police force deployed for the security of the camp confirmed the findings saying eight bullets of AT1, about 600 socket bombs, different items used for ambush attacks, coils of wire, three bullets of the TNT revolver, four rifle chargers, as many multi metres, a bullet of INSAS rifle among others were found in the Hill tank in Gairigaun, Basathana. “We found the Hill tank buried wrapped in plastic and inside it the ammunitions also wrapped in plastic,” revealed an armed police man on condition of anonymity. By late night six bombs were defused. With the news of the weapons’ arsenal found hidden, locals had been terrified and taken to the place in hordes. The seized items are now kept at the temporary camp and the journalists have been prohibited to take the photos of them.
