GOVT. OPPOSES CIAA INTERVENTION IN BUDGETARY JUGGLING AT A TIME

Kathmandu, 27 April: The government has approved regulations on Urban Development Authority-2068 B.S. by amending some of its disputed legal provisions. The government is mulling to form the Authority for focusing urban development and road expansion campaign in Kathmandu valley, RSS reports.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held in the capital on Friday morning took a decision to this effect to clear the hassles faced by the officials in the road expansion campaign in the valley.
Similarly, the Cabinet meeting decided to extend the tenure of the taskforce formed to define martyrs and provide state honors to those killed during the people's movement. The panel has been given one more month, said Minister for Finance Barshaman Pun after the meeting.
The government had formed the panel under the coordination of Maoist leader Nabraj Subedi.
Likewise, the government has decided to form a 14-member Directive Committee on President Chure Conservation Programme. The Vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission will head the Committee, Minister Pun added.
Similarly, the Cabinet meeting also decided to approve Rs 4.64 billion received from the Asian Development Bank for urban development project.
Likewise, Minister Pun said serious attention of the Council of Ministers was drawn over the directive issued by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to not transfer and release the budgets for different projects and programmes. On Thursday, the anti-graft body had issued a directive in the name of 10 different ministries to not release and transfer non-budgetary funds.
The government also decided to extend the term of the Brigadier Generals of Nepal Army (Technical Section) Prakash Raj Pandey to April 2, 2014 and Bachchu Ram KC to April 8, 2014.
