Kathmandu, 6 April: A Kathmandu Municipal Corporation (KMC) Friday launched a “Clean Kathmandu, Our Kathmandu’ campaign.
clean-up campaign is being launched Friday.
Carrying brooms, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and senior government officials symbolically launched the campaign from Singha Durbar, the central
secretariat, Thursday
Nearly 100,000 youth—one from every household—have been mobilized for the campaign.
Those littering the secretariat will be fined Rs100 and informers will be rewarded with Rs.50.

COURT INTERVENES TO STOP SURYA NEPAL STRIKE
Kathmandu, 6 April: Hetauda appellate court Thursday issued an interim order asking workers at Surya Tobacco—Nepal’s largest manufacturer with Indian investment, not to go on a strike to push demands.
It urged negotiations.
‘There are opportunities for problem resolution through talks,” the court noted.
A Maoist union is pushing 11 demands and the company sought court
intervention to stop a threatened strike.
