LIGHTNING INJURES 40 IN CHAUTARA
Kathmandu, 6 April: As many as forty persons were injured after lightning struck them at Phulpingkot VDC-5 in Sindhupalchowk district on Thursday night, RSS reports from Chautara.

According to Jhalak Bhandari, a teacher, the lightning also destroyed two houses belonging to Tok Bahadur Basnet and Gyan Bahadur Karki of the same VDC.



Thirty-nine women and a man fell unconscious after the lightning struck them. Of the injured, four have been admitted to a hospital at Jalbire VDC further treatment.

As many as 20 houses in the VDC have suffered slight damage due to the lightning, said Bhandari.

LIGHTNING KILLS BHUTANESE REFUGEE IN JHAPA
Kathmandu, d6 April: A Bhutanese refugee died after lightning struck him on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Gopilal Karki, 39, of Beldangi refugee camp, according to the area Police Office, Damak, RSS reports from Bdadrapur.

Karki died while undergoing treatment at the AMDA Hospital, Damak.

FEDERAL CONSTITUTION DEMANDED
Kathmandu, 6 April: Different constituent parties, federations and organizations of the Indigenous Nationalities Joint Struggle Committee (INJSC)-2012 have demanded bringing new constitution with federalism within May 27.

Organizing a press meet here today, the Struggle Committee put forth different demands including promulgating federal democratic republican secular constitution and formulating a fully proportional electoral system, among others.

Coordinator of the Secretariat of the Committee, Parshuram Tamang said that the previous agreement signed with the government should be implemented for ensuring the right of self-determination of the Indigenous Nationalities.

Tamang demanded that there should be guarantee of proportional and inclusive representation in all bodies and levels of the state.

Different 58 constituent parties, federations and organizations of Indigenous communities are associated to the Struggle Committee. RSS

YOUNG LAWMAKERS CONTINUE TO PUSH PEACE, CONSTITUTION
Kathmandu, 6 April:: The group of youth Constituent Assembly (CA) members, formed to create pressure for timely peace and constitution, has urged the major political parties to work seriously so as to conclude the peace and constitution drafting processes within the remaining term of the CA at any cost, RSS reports.

A meeting of the group on Friday has stressed the need of taking the peace process to a conclusion and drafting the new constitution within the slated timeframe at all the costs, and thereby institutionalize the achievements of the democratic movements.

Talking to RSS after the meeting, group member Rabindra Adhikari said the meeting has decided to make all possible efforts to compel the parties to reach to a consensus on the remaining tasks of the peace and constitution within April 12.

Besides, parties have been told to work round the clock to conclude these tasks within the remaining 52 days of the CA.

Similarly, concluding that there was no alternative for parties to promulgating the federal democratic constitution through the CA, the meeting urged the party leaders not to leave the Capital until they complete their duty.

"It is a matter of concerns that top leaders of the parties are busy in the party programme instead of concentrating on the peace and constitution drafting issues", states the press note issued by the group after the meeting.

Moreover, the meeting has called for settling all the issues relating to the integration and management of the Maoist former combatants through the Special Committee meeting scheduled to be held on April 8. RSS
