MEETING OF BIG THREE AND MADESHBADI FRONT STARTS UPDATE Kathmandu, 24 April.: A meeting of the Big Three and Madeshbadi Front got underway to discuss and resolve new differences that surfaced in drafting a constitution even after a two-day meeting of arties at Hattiban Resort. Maoists, NC,UML and the Front representatives will hold discussions with small parties in parliament later Tuesday to agree on a constitution. Only 34 days remain for its promulgation. nnnn BIDYA BHANDARI ELECTED UNOPPOSED CHIEF OF UML WOMEN’S PARTY WING Kathmandu, 24 April: Bidya Bhandari was elected unopposed chief of the women’s wing of opposition UML in Pokhara where a convention of the body was held Tuesday. She is widow of Madan Bhandari, party chief who died in a jeep accident. Bhandari is a former defence minister. Former minister Urmila Aryal complained Bhandari rigged the vote and said she would lodge a complaint at the party office. Nnnn STRIKE CLOSES DOWN TERAI Kathmandu, 24 April: A strike Tuesday called by Nepal Adibashi Janajati Mahashangh closed down terai districts demanding inclusion and other rights be incorporated in a proposed constitution.i. The closure came after demands were put before top party leaders of arties in the capital. The strike was launched as a pressure tactic. Nnnn RATO MACHINDRANATH TO BE TOWED WEDNESDAY Kathmandu, 24 April: Rato Machindranath chariot will be towed from Pulchowk to Patan Wednesday to begin a journey to Jawalakhel where the traditional bhoto will be displayed. The idol of the Goddess of Rain was carries from the temple and installed in the chariot Sunday. Nnnn
