LIGHTNING STRIKE INJURES 10 IN ACCHAM
Kathmandu, 8 April:: At least 10 persons were hi in a lightning strike at
at Dhamali and Barala VDCs in Accham Saturday night, police said.
The injured have been referred to district hospital treatment after preliminary treatment locally.
Lightning this month has been crating havoc, especially in the hills.

NC WOMAN LAWMAKER ASSAULTED IN UDAYAPUR
Kathmandu, 8 April: A group of youths attacked lawmaker of Nepali Congress, Laxmi Pariyar, in Udayapur on Sunday morning, RSS reports from .Rajbiraj.

According to Zonal Police Office, Rajbiraj, the group of around 10 youths led by Rajan Magar stopped the bus (Na 2 Kha 5072) of Pareli Transportation Service bound to Ghaighat from Kathmandu at Salghari Chowk, Bagaha, in Triyuga Municipality-8 and attacked her.

Pariyar sustained injuries to her face and leg as she tried to protect her brother Sandeep Tailor. Magar and his men attacked Sandeep, an accountant of the Cottage Industries Office, following a debate between them.



Lawmaker Pariyar was traveling in the bus on her way to Ghaighat to attend the regional assembly of NC Udayapur Constituency No. 1.

Necessary legal action against the group will be taken as they have already been identified, said Police Inspector, Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of Udayapur.

30,000 PLUS VOTERS HAVE NO ID CARDS IN SALYAN
Kathmandu, 8 April8: More than 30,000 citizens in Salyan have been deprived of the new voter identity card with a photograph as they lack the mandatory citizenship certificate, RSS reports from Salyan.

A total of 30,012 residents in the 47 VDCs of the district have been found to not possess their citizenship certificate, and thereby failed to acquire the voter ID card, according to the District Election Office, Salyan.

The fact was revealed during the voter registration program carried out by the Office last year.

Likewise, 358 members of the Badi community in 16 VDCs of Salyan have also deprived of the voter ID card, as they do not have a citizenship certificate.

Only 42 of the 400 Badis above 16 years of age are found to have acquired their citizenship certificate, according to a study carried out by local Non-government organizations.

Meanwhile, the District Election Office, Salyan is to carry out the voter registration for those who were left out in the first phase from coming April 14.
