PRESIDENT ASKS PARTIES TO UNITE
Kathmandu, 13 April: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has suggested all the political parties to unite for building an integrated Nepal, RSS reports from Lahan.

Inaugurating the Salahesh festival at the Salahesh garden in Sisawani, Siraha on Friday, Dr. Yadav expressed the confidence that the new constitution along with federalism would be promulgated if the political parties agreed to join hands for peace and constitution.

"Peace, tranquility, tolerance and goodwill can help protect the nation and would also give the country a new constitution", the president said while pointing out the need for political stability in order to institutionalise the changes that were made
with minimum damage in the country.

The president also said that preservation and promotion of natural heritage, herbs, fruits and plants to develop as a botanical garden would help promote tourism and strengthen the economy.

"This will then stop Nepali youths from going to the gulf countries to look after camels or wash dishes", he said.

He also suggested the senior political party leaders to follow the footstep of King Sahalesh, who won people's heart by working as per their wishes and aspirations.

Minister for General Administration, Ram Kumar Yadav, Minister without portfolio Raj Lal Yadav, CA members from the district, industrialists and social workers, and civil servants were present on the occasion.

The Salahesh festival is organised every year on Baisakh 1 at the flower garden at Mahisotha, some four kilometers from Lahan town.

A grand fair is also organized during the festival drawing a large number of revelers from across Nepal and neighbouring Bihar state of India.

An orchid plant at the middle of the Salahesh garden there is believed to flower only for a day on Baisaikh 1 every year

NO RETURN FROM PEACE PROCESS SAYS UML CHAIRMAN KHANAL
Kathmandu, 13 April: CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal has said that the peace process has now reached to a point of 'no return' and has thereby created a reliable atmosphere for the new constitution to be promulgated before May 27, RSS reports.

Speaking at a program organised on the occasion of New Year 2069 by the party's Central Publicity Department here on Friday, he said the significant agreement reached on management of Maoist combatants at the end of 2068 has also developed an environment of trust among the people.

The transition should not be lengthened any further and the country should be guided towards economic transformation through a democratic constitution drafted on the basis of a consensus, Khanal said.

On the occasion, the UML Chairman said his party was fully committed to press freedom.

Chief of the Department, Pradip Gyawali said the UML would work this year to put an end to the politics of violence and to ensure that another movement is not required for democracy.

President of Nepal Media Society, Kailash Sirohiya and other media persons on the occasion extended best wishes to the parties to draft a democratic constitution along with press freedom.
