UN CHIEF PRAISES RESOLUTION OF DISPUTES ON INTEGRATION
Kathmandu, 15 April: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Sunday praised efforts
of political parties to finalize disputes on the integration of former Maoist fighter
into the Nepal Army.
"The Secretary-General commends the progress on integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants and hopes for a smooth completion of the process.
"The Secretary-General urges all parties to ensure the transitional justice mechanisms currently being debated are established in compliance with international law, prioritize victims' rights and are able to operate with full independence,"," said a statement issued by Ban's spokesperson Sunday in New York.
Ban acknowledged the role of political parties, Nepalese government,
Nepal Army,Maoist commanders and combatants in resolving the issues.
He reaffirmed continued UN support for the peace process to end it urging
consensus and called for promulgation of a constitution.

VOTERS’ LIST UPDATE STARTS
Kathmandu, 15 April: The Election Commission started works on registering names of people who missed to register their names in the voters´ list, making corrections and giving opportunity for making claims and counter-claims on the voters´ list at the Ward level in the VDCs and Municipalities in all the 75 districts of the country from Sunday, RSS reports.
The EC has begun works on updating the voters´ list in view of the next general election. Acting Chief Election Commissioner Nil Kantha Uprety initiated the work on updating voters´ list at Naikap VDC of Kathmandu district today.
Spokesman at the Election Commission Sharada Prasad Trital said the work on updating the voters´ list would be completed in two weeks while the whole process would be concluded by mid-June this year.

WOMAN GANG RAPED IN KANCHANPUR
Kathmandu, 15 April: A woman was reportedly gang-raped at Raikwar Bichawa, a remote area in southern Kanchanpur district Saturday night, RSS reports from Kanchapur.
Four persons allegedly raped the woman using threat. It is said one Tek Bahadur Khadka of Raikwar Bichawa-3 had brought the woman to his house for marrying her, according to the Area Police Office, Raikwar.
Identity of the woman has not been ascertained yet as she is in unconscious condition after the gang-rape.
Police have taken Tek Bahadur to the District Police office, Kanchanpur, for investigation.
The Office said police have started searching for the four persons, suspected for their involvement in the incident, who are absconding.
According to Inspector Balram Bista of the District police Office, Kanchanpur, a medical test would be conducted to ascertain whether the woman was raped.
Police said the woman was drunk when
found.
