BIG THREE MEET STARTS Kathmandu, 8 May: A meeting of top leaders of the three major political parties has started at the UML's central office to discuss the disputed issues in the constitution and the cabinet expansion. The leaders are expected to forge consensus on state restructuring, form of governance, electoral system, judicial system, among others, in the meeting. Similarly, they will also discuss regarding the UML's participation in national unity government as per the five-point agreement signed on Thursday. Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha from the UCPN-Maoist, President Sushil Koirala, Vice-president Ram Chandra paudel, leaders Arjun Narsingh KC, Ram Sharan Mahat from the Nepali Congress and Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, KP sharma Oli and other leaders from the CPN-UML are present in the meeting. Meanwhile, the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has reiterated its stance for Autonomous Madhes Province in the new constitution. A meeting of the leaders of the UDMF held today decided to include the whole southern plain land as an autonomous Madhes Province, said General Secretary of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic), Jitendra Dev. "Federating the country by mixing the Tarai region with other territory of the country is not acceptable to the UDMF. The meeting urged the leaders of other political parties to not mix Tarai with other part of the country," he said. General Secretary Dev said the UDMF also urged the major political parties to forge consensus on the disputed issues seen in constitution writing process immediately and promulgate the constitution in the slated timeframe. The UDMF meeting also called the CPN (UML) to join the national unity government formed as per the five-point agreement. nnnn
