CAUCUS OF LAWMAKERS MAINLY DEMAND UNITARY FEDERAL STATES Kathmandu, 10 May: Different lawmakers belonging to the United Democratic Madhesi Front, indigenous, nationalities, Dalit, Muslim communities and independent lawmakers have made a four-point agreement today [Thursday] with a commitment to drafting a new constitution on May 27, RSS reports. Holding a meeting, the lawmakers of different political parties have expressed their commitment to stand firm on federal states based on unitary identity by making basis to the separate reports of the Constituent Assembly (CA) Committee on State Restructuring and the High Level State Restructuring Commission. The meeting also decided to take initiative for federal states based on unitary identity among the political parties and Constitutional Committee (CC) and urge the CA Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang to forward the disputed issues as per the due process based on the CA Regulations. Likewise, the lawmakers have appealed to all agitating groups to maintain social harmony. Lawmakers Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, Hridayesh Tripathi, Rajendra Mahato, Barshaman Pun, Raj Kishore Yadav, Prithvi Subba Gurung, Jip Tshering Lama, Anil Kumar Jha among others have signed in the commitment letter nnnn CC DECIDES TO GO FOR A VOTE FOR CONSTITUTION Kathmandu, 10 May: Today's [Thursday’s meeting of the Constitutional Committee (CC) has decided to move forward the voting system by preparing questionnaire on the disputed issues in the constitution writing, RSS reports. After the meeting, Chairman of the UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that they held discussions on how to go with the voting process. Dahal added that the Secretariat of the CC will prepare the questionnaires and they will be distributed to members after holding meeting of the CC again at 2:00 pm today. Similarly, Central member of the Nepali Congress, Bimalendra Nidhi said that an agreement was reached for preparing questionnaire for the voting as well as holding discussions for forging consensus. Nidhi said that the Secretariat will prepare the questionnaire on the disputed issues today and the prepared questionnaire will be submitted to Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Subash Nembang. He further said that discussions are underway whether to submit all the questionnaire at once to Chairman Nembang in the end or turn by turn. R nnnn
