DPM GACHCHHADAR CONFERS WITH SUSHIL KOIRALA; SEEKS CLARIFICATION ON NC DEMAND FOR CONSENSUS GOVT. Kathmandu, 2 May: Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has asked President of Nepali Congress (NC) Sushil Koirala regarding the latter's stance on formation of the national consensus government. During the meeting held at Koirala's at residence, Maharajgunj, the leaders discussed regarding the no confidence motion against the government as planned by the NC and the conflicting issues in the new constitution, Gachchhadar told reporters after the meeting. Gachchhadar said NC's preparations regarding the formation of the national unity government and its legal and theoretical aspects were sought from Koirala. On the occasion, Koirala urged Gachchhadar to support for the formation of the national unity government adding that he was holding parleys with others to this effect. Earlier November 1, major political parties had agreed to form the national unity government. nnnn PM BHATTARAI STEADFAST HE’LL LEAD UNITY GOVT. DESPITE MOUNTING RESIGNATION DEMANDSi Kathmandu, 2 May: Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has reiterated that the he would lead the national consensus government, RSS reports from BIratnagar Talking to RSS at Biratnagar Airport this morning, the Prime Minister said that present government will not topple due to some people's wishes and dreams. He said, "Present government will not topple by the dreams of some people. It is none other than a political dishonesty to search for alternative to this government at a time when the peace process has taken a speed and constitution making process was also forwarded." Saying formation of the national unity government was his agenda, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the disputed issues seen in constitution wiring would be ended soon and constitution writing process will also be taken to a logical end. On the occasion, Dr Bhattarai said that the parties were divided over the number of provinces and bases for the state's delineation as most of the issues were resolved. Dr Bhattarai who is also the Vice-chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) expressed his confidence that the dispute in the Maoist party will be resolved soon. He also ruled the possibility of split in the Maoist party. "Our party will remain united and constitution writing process will also be taken to a logical conclusion." RS nnnn YOUNG MOTHER KILLS HERSELF, CHILD ROTESTING HUSBAND DIDN’T TAKE HER TO INDIA Kathmandu, 2 May: A 20-year-old woman has killed self after murdering her infant daughter saying that she was not taken to India by her husband. Her husband had left for India to find job a few days ago, RSS reports from Baitadi. Ganga Bhul, 20, of Shreekot VDC-5 of Baitadi consumed poison and committed suicide after murdering her nine-month-old daughter, Manmati, according to District Police Office, Baitadi. The bodies have been handed over to the kin of the deceased after postmortem in the district Hospital, Baitadi. Nnnn RAJENDRA MAHOTO BEHIND BHATTARAI GOVT. Kathmandu, 2 May:: Minister for Health and Population and Chairman of the Nepal Sadbhavana Party, Rajendra Mahato, has claimed that this government will promulgate the new constitution. He also urged the Nepali Congress (NC), the CPN (UML) and other political parties to join the current government to give it a shape of national unity, RSS reports. Speaking at a news conference organised here today, Minister Mahato said conspiracies were hatched to obstruct the constitution writing process and expressed his commitment that the United Democratic Madheshi Front (UDMF) would support the Nepali Congress for the national consensus government after the promulgation of new constitution. Minister Mahato informed journalists about the Fifth General Convention of the party that is going to begin on May 4 in Janakpur. nnnn
