MAIOSTS CHANGE TO CONCILIATORY STANCE Kathmandu, 22 May: The Unified CPN (Maoist) has decided to settle the disputed issues seen in constitution writing process through political consensus among the major political parties, RSS reports. An informal meeting of the office-bearers´ of the Maoist held at the residence of party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ´Prachanda´ in Lazimpat on Tuesday morning took a decision to this effect. The Maoist party has also decided to hold talks with other political parties to forge consensus on state restructuring. The meeting also urged the agitating groups to withdraw all the protest programmes and sit for talks to meet their demands. During the meeting, the Maoist leaders said that the party should take firm stance on state restructuring based on multi-ethnic identity and viability to promulgate the progressive constitution by May 27, said Chairman Dahal´s aide Shiva Khakurel. It is said that leaders have taken exception to the remarks made by some leaders of major parties regarding the promulgation of constitution without federalism and termed such remark as irresponsible one. nnnn ________________________________________
