MORE ON PRACHANDA, NAYANT PRASAD MEET Kathmandu, 18 May: Maoist Chairman Prachanda summoned Indian Ambassador Jayant Prasad to his residence Friday and objected to a statement of the Indian diplomat in Birgunj Thursday. Prachanda told the envoy such statements create instability at a time when the constitution was being promulgated. Prasad told Maoist chief he wasn’t aware of the statement published in the media Friday. Several parties in a written statement Friday condemned the comments of the Indian diplomat. nnnn. ADD TO RPP-NEPAL PROTESTS Kathmandu, 18 May: At last half a dozen vehicles were vandalized Friday in the Valley during nation-wide protests by RPP-Nepal calling for protection of national sovereignty. Life came to a halt in the capital where two party lawmakers were arrested, The party supports a Hindu state and constitutional monarchy. In the capital, Tamang and Newar communities are coming out of streets demanding recognition of their identity. Newar community is taking out a motorcycle rally in the midst of RPP-Nepal strike nnnn MAOIST CHIEF CONSULTS MADESH LAWMAKERS Kathmandu, 18 May: Maoist Chairman Prachanda summoned the party’s lawmakers from the terai and discussed the party’s official stance on 11 provinces in a federal structure after some legislators Thursday attended a meeting of a Broader Madesh Front for opposing 11 unnamed provinces. The front support supported by the rebel Mohan Baidhaya group has called for a terai bandh protesting the Maoist, NC and UML decision to carve out 11 provinces. Prachanda asked lawmakers to discuss issues in the party.and assured them the partywas considering opposition to the official party position. He objected to party lawmakers attending the Upendra yadav meeting in thecaotal Thursday. The terai has been shit down Friday by Tharuat Struggle Committee as well demanding their own province. 12TH AMENDMENT TO INTERIM CONSTITUTION BEING TABLED IN PARLIAMENT Kathmandu, 18 May: A 12th amendment to the interim constitution is being tabled in parliament Friday by government. The government bill couldn’t be tables Thursday amid obstruction of lawmakers of the broader Madesh front of Upendra Yadav opposing 11 unnamed provinces. The constitution is being amended to shorted process to amend a constitution with only nine days remaining to promulgating a basic law. A meeting of the constituent assembly (CA) is also to be convened Friday..
