NC CONVENES CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEET WEDNESDAY
Kathmandu, 23 May: The Nepali Congress has called the central working committee (CWC) meeting for Wednesday evening after the government decided to extend the Constituent Assembly tenure for next three months and tabled the 13th amendment bill of the Interim Constitution in the Legislature-Parliament on Tuesday, RSS reports.
The meeting of the NC office bearers and central committee members held at party President Shushil Koirala´s residence, Maharajgunj, this morning had expressed serious concern over the government´s decision to extend the CA term.
The majority of the NC leaders present in the meeting said NC should not just follow the Maoist agendas and extend the CA term going against the Supreme Court decision.
Speaking to the media persons after the meeting, Central Member Dipak Giri said NC should not go against the Supreme Court verdict showing agreement to the CA term extension.
Similarly, NC leader Sujata Koirala said NC President has already expressed his view against the CA term extension and that is the party´s voice, adding NC should not move back from the stance.
NC President Koirala had organised a news conference on Tuesday, right after the government decided to extend the CA term, saying the decision could be a contempt of court.
