NC, UML AGAINST CA TENURE EXTENSION
Kathmandu, 23 May: UML standing committee meeting Wednesday opposed the extension of a constitution assembly (CA) tenure and concluded a constitution should be promulgated by 27 May, Secretary Shanker Pokhrel said.
‘The party is for the promulgation of a constitution by 27 May,” he said
‘The decision of the supreme court should be respected,” Pokhrel amid
widespread charges government acted illegally and unconstitutionally in
deciding to extend the CA tenure by three months.
NS central committee meet began Wednesday night at party headquarters
; Sher Bahadur Deuba was absent although his supporters are attending.
NC and UML, latest entrants to government, said the government of
Baburam Bhattarai should resign immediately after discussions Wednesday to develop a common stance.
‘A five-point agreement should be implemented, the Bhattarai government
should resign and a government led by UC should be formed before 27
May, Krishna Prasad Shitaula, deputy prime minister of behalf of NC said.
Shitaula also said a constitution should be promulgated by 27 May.
Meanwhile, several writs were registered at supreme court Wednesday challenging government decision to extend CA tenure.

RADHESHYAM ADHIKARI RESIGNS FROM CA
Kathmandu, 23 May: NC member of CA Radheshyam Adhikari resigned from assembly membership.
Adhikari represents NC in the assembly/ parliament and is a lawyer.
Senior lawyer Adhikari said government decision is against the supreme soirt verdict.
