RSS Reports: The Standing Committee meeting of CPN (UML) on Tuesday has urged President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to immediately initiate a process for the formation of national consensus government in line with the constitutional provisions. Claiming that the incumbent government which has just a 'caretaker' status with the dissolve of the Constituent Assembly (CA) could not hold fresh CA elections, taking all the parties into confidence, the meeting stressed for the formation of national consensus government to make constitutional and legal arrangements necessary to that end. "The nation has plunged into a grave crisis following the dissolve of the CA, " concluded the meeting and decided to move ahead through 'National Democratic Unity Front' among the major parties to take the nation out of such crisis. Underlining the need of unity among all the major political forces to lead the nation towards positive direction as per the people's aspiration, the meeting urged all the democratic forces to unite so as to defend activities intended at jeopardizing the communal and national harmony. The government's arbitrary decision to take the country to the election when there was the chance that the CA could make the new constitution and also a possibility to go for fresh people's mandate by keeping the Legislature-Parliament alive was an apparent attempt to steer the country to crisis and impose totalitarian rule, It was stated at a press release issued by party Chairperson Jhalanath khanal. The Prime Minister's move to go for fresh election by dissolving the CA without taking stock the emergence of constitutional and legal questions was unconstitutional and faulty, said the UML. The UML also asserted that the CA elections could not take place without first resolving the pertinent constitutional and legal problems. The meeting concluded that the Bhattarai-led government had committed a crime by making the CA a failure and reaching the country to a political vacuum against the spirit of People's Movement, Comprehensive Peace Accord and the Interim Constitution of Nepal. The meeting also urged one and all to protest such a criminal move and put in place a campaign to expose the wrong deeds of the government, RSS Goes On To Add:: Leader of Baidya faction of the UCPN (Maoist) and other opposition leaders have objected to the government step to announce the fresh Constituent Assembly (CA) elections. Speaking at a face-to-face programme in the capital today, UCPN (Maoist) Secretary C P Gajurel said that the Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai should tender his resignation as government has lost its constitutional and moral grounds after the dissolution of the CA. "The government has done political coup by declaring fresh CA elections. This is merely a game to extend the government's life," Gajurel said. He reasoned that the Prime Minister's post was unconstitutional after the dissolution of the CA and Legislature-Parliament. "This is Prime Minister's imagination to say he has executive rights," Gajurel said. He also said that the Interim Constitution has not envisioned the CA elections for the second time. Gajurel was of the opinion that an all-party government should be formed for the fresh CA elections. Likewise, Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Nepal) Upendra Yadav said the Prime Minister should tender his resignation by withdrawing the unconstitutional decision to announce the fresh CA elections. Also speaking on the occasion, CPN (UML) leader Pradip Gyawali said that announcement to the new CA elections was unconstitutional. Nnnn UN CHIEF SAYS HE’S DISAPPOINTED Kathmandu, 29 May: Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon has been disappointed that Nepal's Constituent Assembly was expired without the adoption of the long-awaited constitution, RSS reports. Nepal has backtracked from the responsibility of delivering constitution as per the people's aspiration, Secretary General Ban said, urging the political parties to forge consensus and move ahead in a united way. Issuing a press release on Tuesday, he said Nepal has entered into uncertain constitutional and political period. Therefore, it was time to institutionalize the achievements made so far and unite for bringing constitution based on it, he requested. Moreover, Secretary General Ban urged the parties here to adopt the methods that brings minimum conflict considering the flexibility and national welfare while take any decision. "These decisions will require flexibility, creativity, and above all the willingness to set aside lesser differences in the national interest," the statement added. RSS nnnn
