PRESIDENT CONTINUES CONSULTATIONS WITH POLITICAL PARTY LEADERS Kathmandu, 10 May: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav continued consultations with leaders of political parties for the second consecutive day Thursday amid uncertainty after parties failed to reach consensus overnight on a federal structure and other issues. President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has urged top brass to move ahead forging consensus in constitution drafting. The president held discussions with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, , Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, main opposition NC President Sushil Koirala, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadhar. President Yadav reminded leaders problems could be created with adoption of voting procedure. Party leaders Thursday also held collective discussions with Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang and discussed constitution drafting. It’s now certain a basic law can’t be promulgated without amending an interim constitution to shorten procedures for adoption of a basic law. Government has registered a proposal in parliament which hasn’t been convened as yet. Speculation mounts on what’s brewing.
