PRESIDENT IN JANAKPUR- Kathmandu, 4 May: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav arrived Friday in Janakpur where he participated in the centenary celebration off Yagyabalkya Sanskrit Secondary School in the town which is the birthplace of Sita, consort of Lord Rama. The president hoped a constitution will be promulgated within the 27 May deadline with Thursday’s breakthrough agreement between major parties. He also condemned Monday’s violence in the town killing five person and injuring more than 30 others. Nnnn UN OFFICIAL IN TOWN Kathmandu, 4 May: Senior UN official Samuel Tamrat who has been involved In the peace process and constitution arrived in town at another crucial time when a basis law in likely to be promulgated by the 27 May deadline. He held discussions with Speaker Subash Nemwang Friday. Nnnn TWO YOUTH ARRESTED WITH NINE CRUDE PISTOLS AND AMMUNITION IN SAPTARI Kathmandu, 4 May: Police here rounded up two youths with arms and ammunition from Malhanama VDC in Saptari district this morning, RSS reports from Rajbiraj. Nine country-made pistols and four rounds of bullets were confiscated from them, police said. Those arrested with arms are 28-year-old Krishna Chaudhari of Malhanama-8 and Binod Thakur of Malhanama-9. The arrests were made at 4 in the morning at local Dhanti Tol in the same VDC. A team of the Armed Police Force that had reached the village after getting information that a looting was taking place there arrested them from a house at the village. nnnn
