STRIKE CONTINUES FOR TTHIRD AND LAST DAY Kathmandu, 22 May: A strike of an umbrella organization of indigenous nationalities and a broad Madeshbadi front of Upendra Yadav of NJFN continued for the third and last day Tuesday. They are demanding promulgation of a constitution with identity based provinces. The first two days of the bands in the capital was violent. Government request at the second of talks Monday night asking representatives of indigenous nationalities, who presented eight demands, were inconclusive. Talks between ruling parties-Maoists, NC, UML and Madeshi Morcha in government, to carve out unnamed provinces for mention in a constitution alsobroke down Monday. Maoists Monday proposed 10 instead of 11 provinces agreed by the Big Three opposed by previous opposition parties NC and UML that have now joined government. UML leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal charged Maoists for conspiring to divide parties and pass a constitution with two-third majority pusedby Maoists. NC and UML pushed a new proposal to promulgate a constitution without mentioning provinces as only five days remain to proclaim a basic law. Angry Maoists reacted immediately charging the two new entrants in government for retracting on carving out federations.
