TALKS BETWEEN GOVT. AND ORGANIZATION OF INDIGEBOUS NATIOALITIES START Kathmandu, 21 May: Preliminary talks between representatives of government led Peace Minster Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and umbrella organization of indigenous national started at peace ministry Monday. Government invited the group for dialogue Sunday. Top party leaders are expected to join the talks later in the afternoon. nnnn PM HOLDS SECURITY MEET Kathmandu, 21 May: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Monday morning reviewed the security jointly with all four security chiefs on the second day of a joint bandh of an umbrella group of indigenous nationalities and a broad Madeshbadi group of Upendra Yadav. Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar was present at the meeting. The meeting was held one day after the first day’s violent protests in which journalists and media houses were targeted in the capital. The premier ordered security for journalists and smooth supply of essentials. Nnnn VALLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CLOSED Kathmandu, 21 May: Valley community schools have been closed down until 28 May, Chairman of Nepal Teachers’ Union Kathmandu chapter Rajendra Adhikai said. Constitution is to be promulgated by 27 May and normal life has been disrupted ahead of the promulgation of a basic law. nnnn INDIAN AMBASSADOR IN DELHI Kathmandu, 21 May: An angry Indian Ambassador Jayant Prasad flew for New Delhi Saturday, Tarun reports. Maoist Chairman Prachanda, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and NC President Sushil Koirala apologized over telephone to the ambassador [for joint statement of the Big Three asking government to request New delhi to recall Indian Birgunj Consul General SD Mehta] but it wasn’t confirmed whether uML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal did the same. An incident Friday has settled down in one hour when charge should have been proved [statement of Mehta urging One Madesh One Pradesh].
