UPDATE ON TALKS BREAKDOWN
Kathmandu, 26 May: The Big Three traded charges for breakdown in talks centered mainly on state restructuring and even predicted the dissolution of the CA without a midnight agreement Sunday.
“NC and UML are conspiring a dissolution of the CA. The conspiracy is big,” Maoist Vice-chairman Narayan Kazi Shrestha said as he broke down before reporters after the Big Three and Madesh Morcha meet.
The Maoists and Morcha have developed a front.
‘I condemn it. My party is committed to a constitution,” he added.
“The two parties [NC and UML neither want to go for an agreement or go for established procedures,” Shrestha said adding CA could be dissolved.
“The situation is serious.”
NC and UML met separately to review the situation after the talks
breakdown and concluded the assembly may be dissolved without an agreement which be attempted until the last moment Sunday.
The two parties concluded a constitution won’t be promulgated without an agreement.
They blamed Maoists for an attempt at power grab.
The UML concluded the CA will be dissolved without a last minute agreement. Sunday before midnight.
The main difference between the stakeholders is the creation of provinces.
Maoists want 10 or 14 provinces based on single ethnicity opposed by
NC and UML proposing eight multi-ethnic federal provinces.
