UUL ASKS ITS LAWMAKERS NOT TO VOTE AGAINST PARTY POLICY FOR 11 NOT ETHNIC PROVINCES Kathmandu, 22 May: Amid a developing politcal crisis Tuesday evening, cntral disciplinary commission (CDC) of UML Tuesday asked its lawmakers not to go against party policy against a single province based on identity. The party in a statement said it was seriously concerned over defiance of lawmakers whho called for ethnic provinces with other parties ahead of a 27 May vote in the CA for a federal constitution. Some UML lawmakers called for single ethnic provinces with Maoists and other parties. UML charged Maoists of attempting to split parties on issue of provinces to collect a two-third majority to approve a constitution with its changed position for 10 provinces after agreeing with NC and UML earlier for 11 provinces. The emergency meeting of the disciplinary committee asked party bodies to curb challenges to the party position. AAs many as 360 Madeshi and Janajati lawmakers—a clear majority—Saturday called for ethnic states. Nnnn
