BLACK FLAGS GREET PM AT AND EN ROUTE TO TU IN KIRTIPUR
Kathmandu, 28 June; Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai was greeted Thursday by black flags waived by activists of Nepal Students’ Union, student wing of NC,
en route to TU in Kirtipur and at the university.
The students later vandalized the office of the vice-chancellor and several
students were arrested.
The rime minister, who is chancellor of the country’s first university,
drove to Kirtipur to attend the founding day of the university.
PM Bhattarai complained the university was producing 90percent graduates
in humanities while only 10 percent graduates were from technical fields such as engineers and doctors.
He called for a review and change on a ‘lop-sided’ education policy.

SUSHIL KOIRALA, MAHANTA THAKUR HOLD DISCUSSIONS
Kathmandu, 28 June: NC President Sushil Koirala and TMLP Chief Mahanta Thakur of ruling Madesbadi front in government with Maoists held hour-long
discussions Thursday on ways to break a current deadlock.
They urged consensus politics.
Koirala urged implementation of a five-point agreement between government and opposition to find an outlet.
The two leaders agreed to hold a joint meet at a date yet to be finalized.
