CORRECTION HASH HAUL Kathmandu,10 June: The hash haul in the capital is worth Rs.13.2 million and not as reported earlier. Nnnn PM, PRESIDENT CONSULTATIONS Kathmandu, 10 June: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai made no comments to reporters after a 35-moinute consultation with President Dr.. Ram Baran Yadav Sunday evening. Bt an aide of the premier, before the talks began, said the meeting was regular and discussions would center around current political developments. Maoists have given hints they are not happy with the conduct of a ceremonial president. Chairman Prachanda has even warned the head of state not to use the Nepal Armyto topple Premier Bhattarai who himself was dissatisfied with Dr. Bhattarai calling the government a caretaker. Former Chairman Subash Nemwang said Nepal is passing through a situation that is even worse that prior to the announcement of 22 November elections for a constituent assembly. All actions after the government announcement have to get legal sanction. But there is no parliament and differences between government and opposition parties have widened widening a chasm. Nnnn FARMERS STAGE SIT-IN IN KAVRE SAYING NO FERTILIZERS Kathmandu, 10 June: After continuing petrol and gas shortage, it’s now the urn of farmers to come out and protest against shortages. They gheraoed the government agency distributing fertilizers for five hill districts in the central region at Kavre district headquarters Dhulikhel. The shortage comes at a time when fertilizers are need for the maize crop and paddy transplant. Farmers said the shortage will adversely affect maize production this year. Nnnn OFFICIALS AT COURTS DEMAND FORMATION OF JUDICIAL COMMISSITION TO PROBE MURDER OF HUSTICE RANA BAHADUR BAM Kathmandu, 10 June: Officials of courts in the Valley stayed away from work Sunday for one hour demanding formation of a high-level judicial commission to probe themurder of Supreme Court Justice Rana Babadur Mab. Government has formed only a police probe and thee has been no significant breakthrough in investigation. Bam was shot dead 31 May by at least two persons on a motorcycle, according to eyewitnesses. The demonstrators demanded security, Justice Bam be declared a martyr long with other demands. They gave government five days to meet the demands.. Nepal Bar Association also demanded a judicial probe charging government of negligence. nnnn
