DETAILS OF MAOIST CHIEF, MADHAV KUMAR NEPAL MEET Kathmandu, 16 June: Chairman of the UCPN-Maoist, Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leader of the CPN-UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal, have held discussion about the current political developments on Saturday, RSS reports. It is the first time leaders Dahal and Nepal held talks following the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly. At the meeting held at leader Nepal's residence Koteshwor, both leaders agreed that there was no alternative to the political consensus, and the political consensus was the tool to tackle present crisis. Following the discussion, Maoists Chairman Dahal said whether it was to form a new government or make constitution, political consensus was a must. "Most of the issues were agreed among the parties during the constitution drafting and remaining others should also be discussed and agreed on," he added. Maoists Chairman Dahal, who made a clarion call for political conensus from the mass gathering his party organized yesterday, met the Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala this morning. Nnnn UML CHAIRMAN KHANAL CHARGES PRACHANDA Kathmandu, 16 June:: Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal has alleged Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of inviting further conflicts in the politics by giving irresponsible expressions from Khula Munch on Friday, RSS reports. Talking to the newly-elected team of Sancharika Samuha at his residence in Dallu on Saturday morning, Khanal said the Prime Minister should quit the post for forging consensus among the parties. Khanal was of the opinion that the Maoist party should present itself honestly for the political way out. He said the Maoist party for being the single largest one should take other oppositions into confidence to end the environment of mistrust. nnnn NC LEADER SHEKHAR KOIRALA CALLS FOR PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION AS GOVT, CALLED ASSEMBLY VOTE Kathmandu, 16 June : Central member of the Nepali Congress, Dr Shekhar Koirala, has said election to the legislature-parliament should be held to bring constitution with two-third majority in the parliament, RSS reports. Releasing a mouthpiece of the Solukhumbu-Kathmandu liaison committee, Solukhumbu Pukar, in the capital on Saturday, leader Koirala said the issues remained contentious on constitution writing need to be settled through referendum. He stressed that the nationality must not be jeopardized in the name of ethnicity. Similarly, another central member Bal Bahadur KC said the internal disputes in the party must be ended soon to strengthen the party. Moreover, senior journalist Purushottam Dahal said the democratic practice was facing threats in Nepal. He expressed confidence that the Solukhumbu Pukar would function as an intellectual medium for the protection of democratic practice. Also speaking on the occasion were Chairperson of Nepal Women´s Association, Dr Deela Sangraula, and liaison committee Chairman Shree Lal Thapamagar. nnnn COMMUNICATION MINISTER YADAV SAYS GOVT. READYFOR ANY SACRIFICE Kathmandu, 16 June:: Minister for Information and Communication Raj Kishore Yadav has said that the government was ready for any kind of sacrifice to end the present political deadlock, RSS reports from Janakpurdhaam. Talking to media persons at Janakpur Airport on Saturday, Minister Yadav said that political parties that afraid of elections under the democratic process will be discarded by people. He said, "Time has come to be aware of the political parties that hesitate to deliver power to the people." Making it clear that the fresh date for Constituent Assembly (CA) was slated by respecting the order of the Supreme Court, Minister Yadav said that the government was effortful to make favorable environment for free and fair elections. He was of the view that the CA failed to draft the constitution due to the stance of the status-quoist parties. Asked a question about budget for the new fiscal year, Yadav said attempts are made for the full-fledged budget but it will be brought even through ordinance if consensus was not forged. nnnn ROAD NOW LINKS SYARPU LAKE IN RUKUM Kathmandu, 16 June: Transport service to Syarpu Lake, one of the famous tourist destinations in Rapti zone, has been started from Friday, RSS reports from Rukum. Transport service to Syarpu Lake from Musikot, the district headquarters of Rukum, was started after the completion of Chhinket-Syarpudaha road construction. Locals and entrepreneurs have expressed their confidence that tourism related activities would increase and the number of domestic and foreign tourists also would go up in the lake after the beginning of the transport service. The road was constructed by the Rural Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Project under the District Development Committee. The road was handed over to the locals on Friday itself. nnnn
