ELECTION OFFICIALS TELL PM, PRESIDENT NO ELECTION BYB 22 NOV. WITHOUT AMENDMENT IN ELECTRIAL LAWS BY MID-JULY
Kathmandu, 4 June: Officials of the Election Commission Sunday briefed President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on obstacles in holding elections to a constituent assembly 22 announced by the government.
The briefing took place one day after the team held discussions with Prime
Minister Bhattarai who called the second vote for the assembly.
Officials , including Commissioner Dol Bhadur Gurung, told the prime minister and president of amendments needed in concerned electoral laws by end of
Ashad [ 13 July] to conduct a vote by the announced deadline.
Without the amendment by 13 July, a vote won’t be possible by the 22 November deadline, election officials said,

UML CENTRAL COMMITTEE POSTPONED UNTIL 9 JUNE
Kathmandu, 4 June: A meeting of UML central committee that began Sunday has been postponed until Saturday 9 June.
Fifteen members presented their views of the first day Sunday.
The meeting was postponed citing need for homework.
Janajati and Madeshis boycotted the meeting charging leadership for
abandoning previous party support for ethnic provinces.
The central committee discussed a politburo suggestion to form an
internal commission to take up demands of janatis and Madeshis to prevent
a party split in the third largest party.
TWO BOYS KILLED
Kathmandu, 4 June: Two boys aged six and eight and six years sucked in a quicksand along Shiva; river in Sundarpur, Udyaput, Saturday.

BUSINESS TEAMS TURKEY CHINA BOUND
Kathmandu, 4 June: A 22-member team of Nepal-Turkey Chambers of Commerce and Industry (NTCCI) left for Turkey Sunday to participate in a trade and
investment fair.
Construction entrepreneurs are among the delegation members.
A FNCCI team led by Vice-president Bhaskar Ran Rajkarnikar also left for China Sunday to participate in the 7th China South Asian Business in Chengdu.
China Council for Promotion of International Trade in sponsoring the event.
The team will also participate in China Import and Export Fair in Kunming and South Asian Countries Trade Fair.

NRB SUGGESTION TO REVIVE GORKHA DEVELOPMENT BANK
Kathmandu, 4 June: Nepal Rashtra Bank (NRB) has suggested either three promoters sell their shares or increase capital to save Gorkha Development Bank Nepal Ltd, Naraya Sapkota writes in Nagarik.
DB Lama, Nirmal Gurung and Chairman of Krishi Primura Ruchi Jajoriya are main promoters.
NRB wrote a letter to the Bank management Sunday, Nagarik writes/
They have been asked to make clear the status of the three persons.
The three have 66 percent majority stake in the Bank.
