INDIAN HEART SPECIALISTS BEGIN TREATMENT OF FORMER PM SURYA BAHADUR THAPA
Kathmandu, 10 June: A team of Indian heart specialists flown in from New Delhi by Indian embassy Sunday begun treatment of former Prime Minister and Rashtriya Janashakti Party Chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa at Norvic Hospital.
Thapa, 84, was admitted Saturday following a severe heart attack and his
condition is described as serious.
Son Sunil, working with the UN in Tanzania, has returned home following
his father’s serious condition.
Thapa was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious state.
“…he had no blood pressure and no breathing. His heartbeat did not resume even after prolonged efforts, including CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), use of necessary emergency drgs and artificial breathing through ventilator. We could revive him and get his heart beats back by nn artificial pacemaker after a lot of efforts,” said
Dr. Bharat Rawt, Chief of the Hospital’s Cardiology Department.

UML CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEET CONTUNUES FOR SECOND DAY SUNDAY
Kathmandu, 10 June; UML central committee met continues for second day Sunday.
Sunday’s meet will continue discussions on subjects taken up Saturday, a
hold a two-day national convention of national workers in the capital later
this month to discuss demand of Janajatis and Madeshis for ethnic provinces.
The meet hopes to stem any split the party over the issue as the party is
now opposed to creating of single ethnic provinces in a federal structure.
