INDIAN WHO MURDERED WIFE, DAUGHTER ARRESTED; SON ALSO DEAD Kathmandu, 28 June: The Jhapa police has nabbed Shova Manipure who was on the run after murdering his family on Wednesday afternoon, RSS reports. Manipure, 40, from Manipur in India and currently living at Jalthal VDC-4 in Jhapa had murdered wife Revika Manipure, 26, four-month-old daughter Sunita and four-year- old Arun by attacking them with a sharp weapon. murdering wife, daughter and son at Jalthala in Jhapa district on Wednesday afternoon. this morning, Sunita died on the spot while Revika had breathed her last in course of treatment at the hospital same day, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mohan Sharma. SP Sharma added that Arun died this morning while undergoing treatment at the Biratnagar-based hospital. Police nabbed accused Manipure from a house at Haldibari VDC-7 as he was hiding there. It is learnt that Manipure used to have disputes with his spouse on the issues of returning to India. nnnn PM SAYS NO LUST FOR POWER DETAILS OF MEET WITH FNCCI TEAM Kathmandu, 28 June: Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has stressed on the need of taking initiatives by the business community also for bringing budget on the basis of political consensus and for ending the current political transition, RSS reports.. Speaking with the delegates of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Thursday, the PM said that he had no greed for state power as accused by opposition political parties, said Prime Minister's Political Advisor Devendra Poudel quoting Dr. Bhattarai after the meeting. Paudel reported that Prime Minister was confident that the political parties would forge consensus soon. He claimed that Prime Minister had announced the date for fresh elections to the Constituent Assembly in line with the Supreme Court directive. Emerging from the meeting, FNCCI President Suraj Baiddya said the Prime Minister claimed that the budget would be brought on the basis of political consensus and urged the delegation to cooperate with the government to that end. "We have taken the pm's call positively", he said. "The Prime Minister is for bringing the complete budget through political consensus" said Baiddya. Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai stressed the need of achieving the double digit economic growth in collaboration with the government and the private sector. Prime Minister further said the parties in the opposition, too had no many differences regarding the budget-making process. Stating that the budget would be brought through ordinance, Dr. Bhattarai pledged to take an initiative to resume the closed industries. The government was serious towards improving the condition of sick industries, said the PM. Likewise, FNCCI Former President Chandiraj Dhakal said the development of nation was not possible without the development of industrial sector, pointing out the need of political stability in the country. During the meeting, industrialist and entrepreneurs urged the Prime Minister to forge consensus and bring the complete budget, demanding guarantee of working environment. nnnn COMMUNICATION MINISTER YADAV ALSO URGES CONSENSUS Kathmandu, 28 June: Minister for Information and Communications Raj Kishor Yadav has said that the government was ready to forge consensus since there was no alternative to consensus to resolve the problems in the country, RSS reports from Bhaktapur.. Minister Yadav made this remarks at a programme organized by Bhaktapur Chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists ( FNJ) to honour journalists with the financial support from the District Development committee, Bhaktapur, here today. Stating the country has been divided into two poles due to increasing gap and mistrust among the parties, Minister Yadav stressed on the need of consensus among political parties to take the country on right track. Mentioning that consensus should be made in favour of the people, the Communication Minister said that consensus should be sought from the same point from where parties had separated. Minister Yadav said matters of government change could be discussed only after the consensus on giving outlets to the country and promulgating the new constitution. The Information Minister further pledged to implement the Working Journalists’ Act (WJA) at any cost, adding the government has begun the works of establishing Journalism Research and Training Centre to increase quality of journalism. Similarly, Minister for Information and Communication Yadav said the government has decided to establish the 'Journalism Welfare Fund' targeting those journalists completing for 25 years in their profession. The government has also making arrangements of journalists' life insurance and insurance of their gadgets including vehicle and camera keeping in mind the rising incidents of attack on journalists, he said. On the occasion, Minister Yadav honoured Chief Editor of Majdoor Daily, Bishnu Gopal KC with Rs. 5,000 and a copper plaque. Another journalist, Mathawor Singh Basnet who also selected for award did not come to receive facilitation saying that time has not come to honour him. Chief District Officer Tejendra Bahadur Bhandari expressed his worries over the non- implementation of WJA. Similarly, Local Development officer, Rajendra Kumar KC, said that the District Development Committee was committed to providing support for the development of journalism. nnnn DETAILS OF SUSHIL KOIRALA, MAHANTA THAKUR MEET Kathmandu, 28 June: President of Nepali Congress ( NC), Shushil Koirala, and Chairman of Terai-Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP), Mahantha Thakur, have hold discussions on the latest political developments in the country, RSS reports. During the meeting took place at Koirala's residence, Maharajgunj today [Thursday], the two leaders held discussions on the matters relating to future strategy necessary for resolving the current political crisis in the country. Stating that there was no alternative for parties to moving ahead on the basis of extensive national consensus, leader Koirala stressed that all the parties should be positive towards forging the national consensus. Talking to media persons following the meeting, TMDP Chairman Thakur said that during his meeting with the Congress President he underlined the need of fresh agreement among the parties in context that the government has already announced fresh Constituent Assembly elections for November 22, this year. nnnn
