MAINALI SAYS HE WAS ILL-TREATED IN JAPANESE JAIL UPDATE Kathmandu, 16 June: Govinda Prasad Mainali, 45, in a brief comment, said Saturday on arrival home from Tokyo, he was ill-treated by prison authorities while spending 15 years in jail for miscarriage of justice. He was wrongly convicted for murder of a Japanese woman; the verdict was overturned gaining Mainali freedom. Mainali, who was awaiting details of the verdict, made only a brief comment. He thanked all who helped to secure his freedom. An international campaign was launched on his behalf for miscarriage of justice.
