MISSING BELGIAN WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN RASUWA JUNGLE Kathmandu, 14 June: A Belgian woman who had gone missing for16 days has been found dead in a jungle in Rasuwa adjoining the capital and Tibet. Villagers and an aerial search located the body of Debbie Maveau, 23, around Deurali, Syafru VDC. The body is being brought to Dhunche. Maveu entered the Langtang National Park area 31 May. and told police she would be on a 6-day trek. It was not known if the Belgian woman was trekking alone dangerously; such solo treks aren’t recommended. nnnn UPDATE MADHAV KUMAR NEPAL ASKS PRESIDENT NOT TO ACQUIESE TO FOREIGN PRESSURE Kathmandu, 14 June: Senior leader of the CPN (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal, in a meeting with President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav this morning, urged the President not to issue any ordinances without national consensus, RSS reports. In the meeting held at the Rashtrapati Niwas, Maharajgung, former Prime Minister Nepal suggested that the President, in his capacity as the protector of the constitution, should not take any decisions without national consensus under pressure from domestic and international actors. Talking to the media after meeting the President, leader Nepal said Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai should not hanker after power rather give it up as he had done in the past. He added that the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) will convene a meeting of the major political parties, including the UCPN (Maoist), for forging national consensus. nnnn RENEWED DEMAND FOR JUDICIAL PROBE INTO MURDER OF JUSTICE BAM Kathmandu, 14 June: Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has demanded that the government form a high-level probe commission immediately to make public murderers of Justice of the Supreme Court Rana Bahadur Bam after carrying out investigations into it, RSS reports. Issuing a press statement, the NBA stated that a meeting of the NBA held on Thursday decided that a delegation of the NBA will meet Minister for Home Affairs and chiefs of the security bodies and express concerns towards delay and negligence of the government to book the murderers. The statement has also mentioned that the case is growing mysterious due to the failure to trace the murderers as two weeks have already elapsed since the incident. Nnnn SOLDIER DROWNS IN RAPTI RIVER IN CHITWAN Kathmandu, 14 June: An army person died Wednesday after he was drowned in Rapti River while swimming. Prakash Bista, 25, working at Kasara barrack of Chitwan National Park, was drowned while swimming at Raptighat, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan, RSS reports from Chitwan. Bista, who fell unconscious after drowning in the River on Wednesday evening, died while undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Hospital, said police. The body has been kept at Bharatpur Hospital for postmortem. Meanwhile, two persons were injured in a motorcycle accident at Katahar Chowk in Bharatpur-6. Motorcycle rider Nutan Malla, 48, of Baidiknagar in Chitwan district and pillion rider Sonu Malla, 45, were injured when a motorcycle (Na 19 Pa 4131) and another motorcycle 1878 with alphabet unknown collided with each other. Both the injured are undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College, said police. Nnnn TWO WOMEN DIGGING RED CLAY BURIED IN PALPA Kathmandu, 14 June: Two women died after being buried under clay mound while extracting clay for scrubbing house in Bahadurpur VDC- 3 in Palpa district on Thursday, RSS reports from Tansen. The deceased have been identified as Gita BK (23) of Takarung of Bahadurpur VDC- 3, and Sumitra BK (29). The bodies were taken out at 7:00 am this morning. Gita has a 12 year and two year old sons and Sumitra BK has two sons aged six and four years. nnnn
