MONSOON REACHES EAST NEPAL Kathmandu, 15 June: The monsoon phenomena is active in the eastern parts of the country, according to the Meteorology and Weather Forecasting Division, RSS reports. Senior meteorologist at the Division, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha said monsoon-related weather activity has been seen in the eastern areas of the country including in Biratnagar, Jhapa and Taplejung, among other places. Due to the influence of the monsoon in the eastern parts of the country, precipitation will likely occur in Kathmandu from Sunday. Weathermen say the monsoon will pass through the central region and gradually reach the far-west of the country by Wednesday. Although it is forecast that generally monsoon starts in Nepal from June 10 via India and ends around September 23, this year it is delayed by a week. Nnnn ONE MAK KILLED IN BANKE FIRE Kathmandu, 15 June: Bhallar Kahar, 65, was burnt to death in a fire that broke out Friday at RamBhair VDC in Banke, police said. At least 22 concrete houses and 95 huts were damaged in separate fires at the two VDCs. Fire broke out at Matehiya VDC as well. nnnn
