MADESHIS IN PARTY
Kathmandu, 22 June; Main opposition NC, following a three-day meet of its central committee Thursday formed an 11-member committee headed by Bhim
Bhadur Tamang to address demands cropping up for ethnic provinces
mainly by Janajatis and Madeshi leaders..
The committee will report to the partying one month.
A new membership drive is being launched to attract people to the second biggest party in the dissolved parliament.
The governing body of the party formed a 15-member ad hoc Chitwan
district committee headed by Tek Bahadur Gurung until elections by 14 September following dismissal of a district body headed by Bikash Koriala charged
for negligence leading to the murder of a party worker in distrct in an
assault.
The meeting demanded a delayed integration of around 3,000 plus former
Maoist fighters in Nepal Army should be completed soonest accoding toterma od a 1 November seven-point accord.
Coordinator of a secretariat of the special committee headed ex-officio by the prime minister has said the government hasn’t pushed the process after the agreement between major parties ad the combatants are dropping out as well.
But completion of the integration in part of the peace process which has
yet to be concluded.
