NORWEGIAN MINISTER MEETS MAOIST CHIEF Kathmandu, 4 June:: Visiting Norwegian International Development Minister Hekai Helmas on Monday called on Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter's residence in Lazimpat, RSS reports.. Dahal's aide Shiva Khakurel told RSS that the Norwegian Minister inquired about Nepal's political development and reasons behind the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly and Nepal's future political course. In response, Dahal responded to the Norwegian Minister saying that lack of consensus among the political parties was the major reason for CA's failure to promulgate the new constitution and added that federalism was the major bone of contention during the talks among the political parties, Khakurel quoted Dahal as saying. The Maoist chief assured the Norwegian Minister that national unity government would be formed and constitution would be drafted through the next CA elections. Dahal further said that Maoist party has vital role to end the present political deadlock and hailed the roles of the neighbouring countries for their roles in Nepal's progress and prosperity. Dahal also said that the peace process has reached the final stage and remaining tasks of the peace process would be concluded soon. On the occasion, Dahal informed the visiting Norwegian Minister that the government has announced the elections to the fresh CA on November 22 and it would be made a success. During the meeting, issues related to contemporary politics and mutual interests were also discussed. Nawalparasi, Monday killing at least five persons were injuring 20 others. The bus was traveling going to Butwal from Narayangadh. nnnn. BAJHANG MASS MURDER OF FAMILY BY TWO BROTHERS INTENTIONAL Kathmandu, 4 June: In a shocking revelation of the police investigation of the Bajhang murder case, the police revealed that two brothers had murdered their own family members, RSS reports. Earlier, it was said that seven persons were killed in a brawl that ensued after the family dispute over land inheritance took a nasty turn. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police of Bajhang, Surya KC, the two brothers, Gagan BK and Birjit BK, of Syadi VDC-9 in the remote area of the district had murdered the seven members of their families on Saturday evening. DSP KC said the BK brothers living in a same house had murdered Birjit's wife Jhankidevi BK, 35, sons Rajendra, Karan and Keshav, and daughter Laxmi. The murderers had used domestic weapons, sharp knifes, axes and Khukuris in the incident, police said. Similarly, Gagan's son Pawan and daughter Pabitra were also murdered in the same incident. It is said that Jhankidevi was nine months' pregnant. KC said that Birjit and Gagan had shut the doors by keeping all the family members inside the house. KC said, "Investigation has revealed that the two brothers (Gagan and Birjit) murdered their family members. They have lost their mental order after the incident." Though seven members of the family were murdered, the alleged murderers have sustained no injury. It is learnt that Birjit was working in India to win his wages and had returned home just some days before the nightmare incident. Both Gagan and Birjit have been kept under police control while postmortem of the dead bodies was carried out in District Hospital, Bajhang, on Sunday. Birjit is the father of eight children and Gagan has seven. The two alleged murderers had even killed buffaloes and goats kept in the shed after murdering the family members including six children. Syadi VDC lies a day's trek away from district headquarters Chainpur adjoining eastern border of Baitadi district. nnnn
