CALLS FOR COOPERATION TO ENFOIRCE SOCIAL REFORMS Kathmandu, 19June: The government has urged one and all to cooperate from their respective capacities for the enforcement of rules and policies related to public awareness and social reform programs against trafficking in persons. Organizing a press conference in the capital on Tuesday, the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare has requested all the bodies concerned for the help to implement the National Action Plan -2068 against Trafficking in Women and Children. Ministry´s Secretary Balananda Poudel stressed the need of all-side support and cooperation to combat the human trafficking. According to information shared by Secretary Poudel, Nepal is in the forefront regarding the human trafficking cases. Implementation of available laws and acts against the human trafficking was not effective, he said, expressing commitments to provide care and protection to the victims of human trafficking. A report Tier -2 on trafficking in persons published from the US also reflects that implementation of rules and policies against human trafficking in Nepal was not satisfactory, he added. nnnn ________________________________________ FNJ TO MARK 2069 BS AS ENHANCEMNT YEAR Kathmandu, 19 June: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) is to mark 2069 BS as the journalists´ capacity enhancement year, RSS reports from Lalitpur. At an interaction organized jointly by the FNJ Lalitpur Chapter, and Minimum Remuneration Fixation Committee, FNJ central chairman Shiva Gaunle said various programmes would be organized throughout the year in order to enhance the capacity of journalists. Once the journalists became competent, it would be easy to press the FNJ to implement Working Journalists Act. The media house must ensure the implementation of Working Journalists´ Act, he demanded. Other journalists speaking at the programme demanded investigation why the owners of the media house exercise every right but deprive journalists of minimum remuneration.
