TWO DEAD IN NEPALGUNJ WALL COLLAPSE Kathmandu, 4 June: A sister and her brother died when they were trapped as the wall of their house collapsed at Salyanibag, Nepalgunj-5 on Sunday evening, RSS reports from Nepalgunj.. Those killed due to the wall collapse are 14-year-old Kalim and 12-year-old Maliya, the son and daughter respectively, of one Hanif Salmani. The children were trapped in the falling rubble as they tried to demolished the already collapsed wall, it is stated. Nnnn RAM CHANDRA PAUDEL, UPENDRA YADAV MISS DEADLINE TO RETURN VEHICLES Kathmandu, 4 June: Eleven members of the dissolved Constituent Assembly, who were provided with state vehicles, are yet to return the four-wheelers to the Parliament Secretariat after the deadline to do so ended today [Sunday], The Himalayan Times reports. Of the 34 former parliamentarians, who were enjoying the facility, 11 were yet to return their vehicles until 5 pm today. Most of the former lawmakers, who missed today’s deadline, are top political leaders, the Secretariat said. Nepali Congress Vice-President Ramchandra Paudel, CPN-UML Chief Whip Bhim Acharya, Chairman of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Nepal Upendra Yadav and Chairman of Dalit Janajati Party Biswendra Paswan are among those who are yet to return their cars. “We will make oral and written requests to get the vehicles back within two or three days,” said Mukunda Sharma, spokesperson for the Secretariat. “Although the former lawmakers are not legally obliged to return state vehicles, they had moral obligations to return the four-wheelers within a week after the CA was dissolved,” he added. After the CA was dissolved on May 27, the Secretariat stopped disbursing fuel allowance to lawmakers. CA chair, vice-chair, chief whips of political parties and chairpersons of CA thematic and parliamentary committees had government vehicles at their disposal. Former heads of various parliamentary committees Ramesh Rijal, Nawodita Chaudhary, Sushila Kandangwa, Padamlal Biswa Karma, Sandhyadevi, Kul Bahadur Gurung and Yashoda Gurung are others on the list of lawmakers who are yet to part with their state vehicles. Earlier today, lawmakers Jitendra Sonal, Gobinda Chaudhary, Dev Gurung, Pramod Prasad Gupta, Shambhu Hajara Dusad and Ram Janam Chaudhary returned vehicles to the Parliament. Similarly, on Friday, 12 former MPs, including the CA chair, had handed over their vehicles to authorities. nnnn
